How can we help you?

We put together these FAQ in order to offer you an even better understanding of how LIMINE works. If you are already a member as a Consultant or a Client and you have a specific question about your LIMINE experience, please reach out through the support page.

General information

LIMINE is a digital platform that makes the right connections between legal consultants and companies. It’s a radically different approach on the legal consultancy market imagined by a former business lawyer – legal interim manager based on values of transparency, liberty, responsibility and honesty.

Offering the freedom to consultants and companies to get in direct contact and negotiate themselves, LIMINE aims to change the face of legal consultancy.

LIMINE is not an intermediary partner and does not mediate between the consultant and the company in reaching an agreement.  LIMINE is not a recruitment office nor a law firm.

LIMINE merely provides a platform to make connections and proposes the best possible matches available between the profiles of consultants and the assignment requirements of companies.  This means that the consultant and the client are free to negotiate themselves the terms and conditions of the assignment, including the hourly or daily rate, start and/or end date of the (interim) assignment, in a full or part time working schedule, etc.  Of course, we’ll be happy to provide you with our assistance if necessary.  Just send us an e-mail to info@limine.be.

When you both have reached an agreement, LIMINE takes care of your administration, by providing a contract (Task Order), time sheets and invoicing and payment collection.

No, LIMINE is not a party to the contract between the consultant and the client.

When the consultant and the client have reached an agreement, the client sends a contract proposal via the platform to the consultant, stating the essential elements of the agreement (such as start date, the agreed rate, etc.). The consultant verifies and, when he or she agrees, the consultant accepts the contract proposal.  From the moment of acceptance by the consultant of the client’s offer, an formal agreement is concluded and a Task Order is created automatically by the platform between the consultant and the client.

LIMINE’s role is strictly limited to the invoicing and payment collection on behalf of the consultant.  This is why the Task Order is concluded “in the presence of LIMINE”.

Even though a Task Order confirms the essential terms and conditions of the agreement, it is to the benefit of both the consultant and the client to conclude an Assignment Agreement also.  In this Assignment Agreement, other useful provisions than essential provisions are handled.  As part of LIMINE’s service, you may use the template we put at your disposal here or you or the client may use your own template.

LIMINE’s clients may propose two kinds of assignments, namely interim or ad hoc assignments.  Interim assignments are assignments where a consultant are engaged for a long (for instance 6-12 months or longer) or short (for instance 1-3 months) term with a predefined start and end date. Interim assignments may be full time or part time, depending on both the client’s and the consultant’s wishes. Interim assignments have a daily rate (fixed amount per man day).

Ad hoc assignments are assignments where the consultant is asked to handle a specific legal topic such as reviewing of a supply contract, general terms and conditions, creating a privacy policy or providing a legal training, etc.  Ad hoc assignments have hourly rates.

Consultants may choose whether they want to receive proposals for interim assignments, ad hoc assignments or both at the same time.

You may send an e-mail to info@limine.be and we will take care of your question as soon as possible.

For Consultants

After your registration to our LIMINE platform, you will be asked to verify your e-mail address. You will be notified by e-mail.  If you haven’t received a notification, please check your spam.

After verification of your e-mail address, our Consultancy Manager will contact you as soon as possible in order to organize a video call, so that we get a better understanding of your working experience, skills and educational background, but also about your preferences and wishes.  We also check two references of former clients, if possible. After our vetting process is terminated, you get immediately access to our platform and you will be able to receive proposals and apply to the ones that interest you. You will receive a notification by e-mail confirming your acceptance to our platform.

We don’t take any commission on the consultant’s rates. The platform is totally free for consultants.

You don’t need to pay any subscription fee. The platform is totally free for consultants.

Any independent legal consultant or lawyer or lawyer-stagiair may apply and will be able to receive proposals for assignments from our clients as soon as the vetting process is terminated and has been successful.

Although working experience is not mandatory to apply, it is recommended that you have at least two (2) years of relevant experience.  Our clients propose many kind of assignments with varying degrees of working experience.

There are a few things to take into account:

  1. Make sure your profile description is complete, clear, and attractive. It is important for clients to know which are your legal practice areas, which industries you have worked in, which languages you speak. The more your profile is filled in correctly and completely, the better your chances are to get relevant matching assignments as the platform algorithm for seeking and connecting the right profiles to the right assignments is using this detailed information.
  2. Choose realistic rates. If you have senior level experience, don’t put a rate for a junior or an expert. On LIMINE’s platform, we have stated typical ranges of rates, which are of course merely indicative.
  3. Make sure to also respond in a timely manner, and we recommend highly not to wait longer than 3 working days. The legal consultancy world is moving fast and the best way to lose a great assignment, is by giving no (or late) response.

You will receive a notification by e-mail when your profile matches an assignment submitted by a company on our platform.  The platform matches instantly, through our smart matching system, your profile, including your requested rates, and preferences with the assignment requirements of our client.  Clearly, the more detailed your profile is filled out, the bigger the possibilities will be for you to get interesting assignment proposals.

Based on the information you detail in your profile, our smart matching system will scan the requirements of an assignment and calculate a matching rate.  It is therefore important that you fill out all your skills and working experience, etc.  You add your language knowledge and experience in all industries. Based on your skills, the system will scan the submitted assignments and calculate a matching rate.

To enjoy the full potential of the smart matching system and the platform, it is important you fill out all your skills and working experience.  You add your language knowledge and experience in all industries. Based on your profile details, the matching system will scan the submitted assignments and calculate a matching rate. The higher the match, the better you fit the assignment.

LIMINE is not a job board where you can scan yourself assignments published by clients.  LIMINE is a platform where consultants may fill out their profile and preferences and where companies may submit assignments.  Through our smart matching system, the best matching profiles are calculated and only this limited number of best matching profiles receive a notification by e-mail that they have been matched. Via the platform you may open the assignment and assess the information in relation to the assignment and the client.  If you are available and if you want, you may apply to the assignment.  Only 3 best and first matching profiles available for the assignment get on our short list and are proposed to the client.

When you apply to an assignment and you are part of the 3 best and first matching profiles available for the assignment, you will get on our short list which we propose to the company.  The client then receives your profile and your resume. Once the client has made an assessment of your profile, he may decide to either send you directly contract proposal (a Task Order proposal) either invite you for an interview.  Direct task orders are typical for ad hoc assignments as are interviews, online or in person, for interim assignments. You will be notified by e-mail if you receive a message, check your spam box.

When the client wishes that you execute the assignment, he will send you a contract proposal (Task order proposal).  You check it, make modifications if necessary, accept the Task Order and you may begin with your assignment.

Consultants that applied and are not withheld by the client, will be notified per e-mail.

Yes, it is possible to extend an Interim assignment. The client will extend the current assignment via our platform by creating a new Task Order.  You will be notified by e-mail that an extension request is made by the client. You check whether the essential terms are correct and you confirm the Task Order through our platform.

No, this is just one of the parameters taken into account by our smart matching system in order to match with relevant assignments.  When you receive a match, you know that your requested rate falls within the budget range indicated by the client for this assignment. The clients have no access to your requested rates.  After applying, you and the client shall further negotiate the applicable rate. Clearly, having strong negotiation skills is a plus.

At the end of each month, you fill out your time sheet via our time registration tool on the platform.  As soon as the client validates the performances, your invoice to LIMINE shall be automatically generated and paid within a period of 30 days date of invoice, provided that LIMINE has received the payable amounts from the client.  The client’s payment terms are 15 days date of invoice.  If we don’t receive a validation or refusal within 72 hours, we consider that the performances are automatically validated and we initiate the invoicing and payment process.

No, as part of LIMINE’s services, LIMINE shall issue automatically your invoice to LIMINE and LIMINE shall invoice subsequently the client.

If you need help to learn how the platform works or you need more information to submit your profile details, please send an e-mail to support@limine.be and we’ll be happy to assist you.

For Companies

You may publish as many assignments as you wish, at no charge.

There are a few things to consider.

  1. Make sure the job description is complete, clear, and attractive. It is important for consultants to know which tasks are in scope and what kind of matters are to be handled. Try to be as detailed as possible. You may also present your company and the team, if applicable, in this field.

  2. Choose a realistic rate range. If you are asking for a senior, don’t put a rate for a junior. On LIMINE’s platform, we have stated typical ranges of rates, which are of course merely indicative.

  3. If it is possible to work from home, then make sure to indicate this as this is in most cases an important factor for more and more consultants.

  4. Make sure to also respond in a timely manner, and we recommend highly not to wait longer than 3 working days. The legal consultancy world is moving fast and the best way to lose great talent, is by giving no (or late) feedback.

If you need more information to learn how the platform works or you need assistance to publish your assignments, please send an e-mail to support@limine.be and we’ll be happy to help you.

You may create and publish as many assignments as you wish.  This is completely free.

In exchange for LIMINE’s services, we charge a commission fee of 20% on top of the fee of the consultant.  The total amount on the invoice shall be consequently the total of the consultant’s fee, in addition of 20%. On the platform, this is calculated when you estimate the budget of the assignment, so that you are in complete cost control.  The total invoice of LIMINE shall be issued at the end of each month and is payable within a period of 15 days date of the invoice.

No, you only start to pay as soon as a consultant starts to execute the assignment for you. No cure, no pay!  However, as we only engage the best legal consultants to our platform, we are convinced you will find your consultant pretty fast!

This means that one or more (with a maximum of 3) consultants best matching your assignment requirements have applied. From this moment, you will be able to check out their resume and contact them directly by phone or e-mail in order to further initiate the hiring process.   As soon as you have reached an agreement, you may hire him or her by clicking on “Create proposal” on the platform.

You may send the link for a video call directly to the e-mail address of the consultant. The e-mail address is mentioned in the profile information of the application of the consultant.

Once you and the consultant have reached an agreement, you can hire him or her by simply clicking on “Create proposal” in his profile.

In the event of an interim assignment, you and the consultant need to conclude an Assignment Agreement in relation to the execution of the assignment. You may use your own template or you may use the template which LIMINE puts at your disposal here.

There you’ll be able to create and follow up contracts and the timesheets through the platform.

All the documents will be stored on both yours and the consultant’s account.

The consultants that match the most with your assignment will receive an e-mail to notify that they have a match. This e-mail is sent as soon as you have created your assignment and also every day at 18h.

It is important to notice that they will receive this e-mail about your assignment only once. That’s why you need to make sure the information is complete and accurate from the beginning.

If the best matching consultant are interested and still available, they may apply to your assignment.  The 3 best and first consultants available that have applied get on our short list, which is sent automatically to you. As soon as a matched consultant has applied, you will receive a notification by e-mail and it will also be visible in the assignment on the platform.

No, this is just one of the parameters taken into account by our algorithm in order to match with relevant consultants.  When a consultant applies, you know that his or her rate falls within your budget range as indicated in the assignment. The consultants have no access to this information.  After applying, you and the consultant shall further negotiate the applicable rate.
